What is Automatic Coil Uncoiling?

Automatic Coil Uncoiling is the process of automatically opening and feeding metal coils into a production line. It is usually the first section of a coil processing line, such as a cut-to-length line, grinding line, brushing line, polishing line or coating line.

The coil is loaded onto an uncoiler, and the machine gradually unwinds the coil while controlling feeding speed, coil tension and material direction. This helps the metal strip enter the next process smoothly and continuously.

Working Process

1. Coil Loading

The metal coil is loaded onto the uncoiler mandrel by crane, forklift or coil car. The coil position is adjusted to align with the production line center.

2. Mandrel Expansion

The uncoiler mandrel expands to firmly hold the inner diameter of the coil. This ensures stable coil support during unwinding.

3. Coil Opening

The coil head is opened and guided into the next section of the production line, such as leveling, grinding, brushing, polishing or cutting.

4. Automatic Unwinding

The uncoiler rotates automatically to unwind the coil continuously. The feeding speed can be adjusted according to the production line requirement.

5. Tension Control

The system controls coil tension to keep the strip feeding smoothly and prevent looseness, slipping or material deviation.

6. Feeding to Next Process

The metal strip is fed into the next machine section, such as a leveler, feeder, grinding machine, brushing machine, polishing line or cut-to-length line.

7. Continuous Production
