The traditional 8K mirror polishing process has been primarily used for stainless steel. Achieving a true mirror finish on aluminum has long been a technical challenge. Previously, the mirror surface on aluminum sheets could only be obtained through rolling or titanium coating, both of which involve high costs and limited production efficiency.
After continuous research and development, our engineering team has successfully introduced a new mechanical and chemical composite polishing process, making it possible to achieve 8K mirror finishes on aluminum sheets and coils (thickness ≤10mm).
1. Process Principle
The new process combines mechanical grinding and chemical polishing techniques, supported by our self-developed polishing consumables:
Rough Grinding: Specially designed grinding wheels are used to remove the oxide layer and level the surface evenly.
Fine Polishing: Wool buffing wheels and non-woven polishing pads are applied to refine the surface and enhance gloss.
Chemical Polishing: A controlled mixture of hydrochloric acid and other agents is used for water-based polishing, improving reflectivity and achieving a stainless-steel-like 8K mirror effect.
2. Technical Advantages
Wide Applicability: Suitable for both aluminum sheets and coils up to 10mm thick.
Cost Reduction: Significantly lower cost compared with traditional rolling or titanium coating methods.
Higher Efficiency: A 1.5m × 2.5m aluminum sheet can be polished to a full mirror finish within 2–3 minutes.
Superior Surface Quality: Produces a bright, uniform reflection without scratches or directional marks, comparable to stainless steel 8K finishes.
3. Conclusion
This newly developed 8K mirror polishing process for aluminum not only breaks through the material limitations and high cost of conventional methods but also greatly enhances productivity and surface consistency. It has already been applied in architectural panels, decorative materials, and household appliance industries, receiving positive feedback from the market.
